Entrepreneur and business speaker Zev Siegl is the co-founder of Starbuck’s, one of the world’s most recognized brands. A popular keynote speaker, Zev Siegl brings a lifetime of insight and success to audiences around the world. Zev has also given virtual talks for large audiences of more than 10,000 attendees.
Siegl’s business career is an inspiring lesson in noticing opportunity and pursuing it with determination and resourcefulness. In the early 1970s, Siegl and two friends finished off their weekly lunch together with a round of espresso. The drinks were terrible, but they inspired a powerful idea. The three decided then and there to bring a good cup of coffee to their town of Seattle. By March of 1971, the group opened the first Starbucks Coffee Company location.
Based in Seattle’s historic Pike Place Market, Starbucks at first sold only coffee beans, roasted on site. With Siegl—the company’s only paid employee—at the helm, Starbucks built on its initial success. By the time Siegl left the company in 1980, it had opened its first wave of Seattle-area shops and was poised to conquer the world.
Zev Siegl then launched a successful career as an entrepreneur, founding several successful companies. At first, he focused on the coffee industry, bringing premium coffee to Washington DC and high-end coffee grinders to supermarkets.
Other entrepreneurs began to seek his advice, leading him to start his own consulting at zevsiegl.com. Nowadays, speaker Zev Siegl advises small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs on everything from financing to forecasting to M&A. He also served as Lead Advisor of the Small Business Development Centre for Southwest King County (Seattle) from 2004 to 2012. In that capacity, he personally advised more than 500 small businesses.
