Speaker William K. Reilly’s previous roles include serving at Stanford University as the first Payne Visiting Professor. In 1989, he served as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Administrator for four years. During that time, he fought for a new Clean Air Act to pass. Also, in 1992, he led the United States delegation to the Rio de Janeiro UN Conference on Environment and Development. Moreover, William worked for the World Wildlife Fund, the Rockefeller Task Force, and the Conservation Foundation.
Along with his work with the Global Water Challenge and Climate Works Foundation, William K. Reilly has also sat on the boards of various corporations, such as ConocoPhillips and DuPont. He also served on the White House Council on Environmental Quality from 1970 to 1972.
Mr. Reilly was nominated by President Clinton to serve as one of the Presidio Trust of San Francisco’s founding Trustees. Furthermore, President Obama chose him to be part of the National Commission on the BP Oil Spill and the Future of Offshore Drilling. In 2012, Willian began working on climate-smart food security. From 1966 to 1968, he was a Captain in the United States Army.
