Keynote speaker Terry Jones’ popularity is mainly due to him being the founder of Travelocity.com and the Chairman of Kayak.com. After several speaking engagements and publishing his books Disruption OFF and ON Innovation, Terry has established himself as a significant voice in the world of entrepreneurship. Upon graduation from Denison University in Granville, Ohio, Jones went on to work for Vega Travel in Chicago. Afterward, he worked as vice president of Travel Advisors. This company focused on corporate travel to the USSR and Eastern Europe. He held this position for five years. Terry previously served on the boards of directors of Overture Services Corp, Earthlink, La Quinta Corporation, Entrust, Inc, and Vendare Media.
Aside from that, he worked for American Airlines for 24 years in various marketing and information technology roles. He culminated his career as Chief Information Officer of the company’s SABRE division. During his days at SABRE, he oversaw a team of six people working on what would eventually become Travelocity.com. Jones was the CEO of Travelocity for seven years. During that time, the company generated three billion dollars in travel sales.
Following the privatization of Travelocity, speaker Terry Jones joined Kayak.com, a company that transformed the way people book their trips. Jones was Kayak.com’s chairman from its inception until its 2013 sale to Priceline for $1.8 billion.
In his current position, he is the managing principal of ON Inc. This is a company he formed to assist businesses transitioning to a digital economy. Throughout his career, he has been on more than 17 boards of directors, and he presently sits on the boards of directors for Sonicwall, Boingo, Crytica, Kinzie Academy, and the Camping and Education Foundation.
