Keynote speaker Peter Neumann is the founder of the International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation. He is also the Department of War Studies’ Professor of Security Studies at King’s College London.
Peter wrote and co-wrote several books, such as The Strategy of Terrorism and Old and New Terrorism. He also wrote many articles on the subjects of radicalization and terrorism. Some of his work has appeared in the New Scientist, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the London Review of Books, and other publications.
Speaker Peter Neumann has researched and written about several topics, such as foreign fighter networks and online radicalization. Furthermore, he has written about terrorist recruitment in Europe and prison-based deradicalization programs.
Peter takes part in three journals’ editorial boards: The Journal of Strategic Studies, Studies in Conflict and Terrorism, and Democracy and Security. He is also an investigator for START. His past roles include being a witness for Northern Ireland’s Public Prosecution Service, the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service, and Scotland’s Crown Office.
Peter Neumann has shared his extensive knowledge on counterterrorism, terrorism, counter-radicalization, radicalization, and intelligence at several universities. These include Georgetown University, King’s College London, and Johns Hopkins University. He has an MA in Political Science and a Ph.D. in War Studies.
Prior to being an academic, he was a radio journalist in Germany.
