Technology speaker David Patterson was a Professor of Computer Science, Emeritus at UC Berkley until his retirement in 2016. Today, he is a Google distinguished engineer and the Vice-Chair of the RISC-V Foundation. His works, such as the Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks (RAID), Reduced Instruction Set Computer (RISC), and Network of Workstation, contributed to the development of multibillion-dollar sectors. This work resulted in 40 awards for teaching, research, and service, as well as numerous papers and seven books.
Patterson is the author of The RISC-V Reader: An Open Architecture Atlas and Computer Architecture: A Quantitative Approach. He and John Hennessy were co-winners of the ACM A.M Turing Award in 2018.
