Above all, famous economist Daniel Kahneman pioneered the integration of psychology into economic science. With his co-investigator Amos Tversky, Kahneman developed the field of behavioral economics. Their work centered on the role of bias and judgment in decision-making and human error.
Later, Kahneman developed the concept of hedonic psychology: our attraction to pleasant experiences and avoidance of ones that are unpleasant. His work has been so widely accepted that it forms an important basis for everything from marketing to clinical psychology.
Professor Kahneman earned his BA in psychology from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and his doctorate from UC Berkeley. He now serves as Senior Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. He also holds the titles of Professor of Psychology and Public Affairs Emeritus at the Woodrow Wilson School, and the Eugene Higgins Professor of Psychology Emeritus at Princeton University. Kahneman is a fellow of the Center for Rationality at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
His awards include the Hilgard Award for Career Contributions to General Psychology and the APA’s Lifetime Contribution Award.
