As one of the best tennis players in history, Billie Jean King won 39 major tennis titles, including 12 Grand Slam. In 1970, she signed a $1 contract to create the Virginia Slims Series. This equal rights movement opened doors for other women who wanted to become professional tennis players. It also led to the creation of the Women’s Tennis Association.
