    Speaker Anna Escobedo Cabral has had an illustrious career in public service and advocacy, marked by her impressive achievements and leadership roles. Her appointment as the 42nd Treasurer of the United States in 2004 until 2009 was the culmination of her remarkable journey.

    Prior to her role as Treasurer, Ms. Cabral served as the Director of the Smithsonian Institution’s Center for Latino Initiatives. She spearheaded there a cross-institutional initiative to enhance the representation of Latino culture in the Institution’s exhibits and programs. Her leadership also extended to the Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility. She served there as President and CEO from 1999 to 2003. In this position, Ms. Cabral partnered with Fortune 500 companies. She helped to increase Hispanic representation in various areas, such as employment and philanthropy. She also established an executive training program in Corporate Governance Best Practices with Harvard Business School.
