Sustainability speaker Amy Myers Jaffe is the Climate Policy Lab’s managing director. She also serves as a research professor at The Fletcher School at Tufts University. Amy is a member of the Women in Energy Initiative’s steering committee at Columbia University’s Center on Global Energy Policy.
Jaffe has extensive knowledge in sustainability and global energy policy. This includes experience with issues such as transportation policy and low or zero-carbon fuels.
In the past she worked as the Environment at the Council on Foreign Relations, David M. Rubenstein Senior Fellow for Energy and Executive Director for energy and sustainability at the University of California, Davis. Before this, Jaffe was the chief investment officer of UC Regents. Here, she oversaw the planning and launch of the UC Regents’ sustainable investing strategy.
Speaker Amy Myers Jaffe has taught courses in energy, business, and sustainability at UC Davis, Rice University, and Yale University. Amy has published articles in a variety of magazines, newspapers, and academic journals. These also include joint authorship on Dollars, Oil, Debt, and Crises: The Global Curse of Black Gold.
In April 2021, Columbia University Press published Amy’s latest book, Energy’s Digital Future: Harnessing Innovation for American Resilience and National Security. Jaffe, who is a frequent media commentator, was elected US Association for Energy Economics president in 2020.
The organization has given her a Senior Fellow award due to her contributions to the subject of energy economics. Amy Myers Jaffe is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Net Zero Transition. She is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
In 2005, Jaffe received the 100 Best and Brightest Award for Contribution to Society from Esquire, as well as the Women for the Environment award from Elle Magazine in 2006.
