The Future We Choose – The best sustainability & climate change speakers for events
We are often asked by our clients to assist them bringing the best climate change and sustainability speakers at their next event. It’s not a surprise as the most significant challenge to achieving sustainable development is climate change, and it poses a threat of dragging millions of people into instant poverty.
Ironically, this is also the best time possible to work on practical solutions in an effort to avert this crisis and bring about a positive change for people all over the world.
Climate change is not only just a long-term solution as it is happening today, right now. Effects that were predicted years ago by scientists are seeing activity today – including massive loss of sea ice, and its effect on the rise in sea levels as well as longer, more intense heat waves globally.
More than ever, policy makers are trying to shape the future and part of that is becoming increasingly knowledgeable in sustainability and climate change.
Aurum Speakers Series presents three world renowned individuals well prepared to tackle the hard questions and speak with your event participants regarding this serious global crisis.

A Closer Look – The Future We Choose: Surviving the Climate Crisis
In writing The Future We Choose, Christiana Figueres and Tom Rivett-Carnac show us how critically important humans need to acknowledge and address the worlds changing climate and the fate of humanity. It is both a well written cautionary yet optimistic read.
The authors arrived to the completion of this book from their vital contribution as lead negotiators for the Paris Agreement in 2015.
The Future We Choose, outlines two possible scenarios that will affect our planet based on our collective decision whether to work towards globally agreed upon targets. One scenario describes Earth in 2050 after failing to meet the Paris climate targets. In the other scenario, Earth is described after meeting the targets and living as a carbon neutral, regenerative world.
They fervently argue for confronting the climate crisis with determination and optimism. The book gives excellent insight into what corporations, governments and individuals can do to avert a global disaster.
Alexandra Cousteau
• National Geographic Emerging Explorer, Filmmaker & Water Advocate.
• Granddaughter of Legendary Captain Cousteau
Bringing over 60 years of global name recognition to the stage, Alexandra Cousteau engages people who expect to hear the third generation of a pioneering family of explorers give credible environmental information regarding our planet’s oceans.
Swimming before she could even walk, by the time she was 4, Alexandra had traversed the globe numerous times. At the tender age of seven, her grandfather, Captain Jacques Cousteau, inventor of SCUBA, taught Alexandra to dive. Her heart has been with the ocean ever since.
Alexandra continues to find inspiration in her family legacy. She is recognized as a global advocate on ocean issues in her own right. Alexandra has led many expeditions with the goal of understanding the issues facing our oceans and exploring the connection to freshwater resources that are so vital to the health and prosperity of humanity.
OCEANS 2050 – To Mobilize A Global Alliance to Restore Our Oceans to Abundance By 2050
After seeing the state of the oceans while on her expeditions, Alexandra was deeply saddened in coming to the realization that by 2050, she, along with globally recognized scientists, would not be able to offer an optimistic outlook for our oceans to our children. It was because of this that Alexandra began developing OCEANS 2050 initiative in 2018.
This is a global initiative of ocean afforestation. The goal is to restore coastal habitats by designing, seeding and managing marine forests and in-turn, providing a habitat for marine life to flourish. They would also reverse acidification and hypoxia, as well as enhance resistance to coastal climate effects and significantly reduce CO2.
